The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is the world's leading forum for developing policies that improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. Its internship programme offers students and recent graduates the opportunity to work at the OECD's headquarters in Paris and contribute to policy research across areas including economics, education, health, environment, tax, and digital policy.

Stipend and Duration

OECD interns receive a monthly stipend of €1,000 — one of the most competitive stipends offered by any international organisation for student internships. Internships typically last between one and six months, with most positions running for three months. The programme runs year-round, and new positions open on a rolling basis throughout 2026.

What You'll Do

OECD interns are embedded in working divisions and contribute to real research and policy work — not just administrative tasks. Past interns have contributed to flagship publications like the OECD Economic Outlook and Education at a Glance, conducted data analysis, drafted policy briefs, prepared presentations for ministerial meetings, and participated in high-level stakeholder consultations.

Eligibility

The OECD Internship Programme is open to students enrolled in or recently graduated from bachelor's, master's, or PhD programmes. Applicants must be nationals of one of the 38 OECD member countries. Proficiency in English and/or French is required — fluency in both is a significant advantage. Subject backgrounds that align well with OECD divisions include economics, public policy, law, statistics, political science, environmental science, and education.

How to Apply

Internship vacancies are posted on the OECD Careers portal at oecd.org/careers. Because recruitment is rolling, check the portal regularly and apply as soon as a suitable position opens. Applications require a CV, cover letter tailored to the specific division and role, and academic transcripts. Visa support is available for nationals who require a French work permit.

Why the OECD

Working at the OECD exposes you to the intersection of cutting-edge economic research and real-world policy-making at the highest level. The organisation advises heads of government and finance ministers on the most consequential economic challenges of our time. An OECD internship is a direct window into how global policy is shaped — and it looks extraordinary on any CV in economics, public policy, or international development.
