Role & Responsibilities
The Health and Migration Consultant will directly contribute to delivering technical support tied to WHO’s global work on improving health outcomes for refugee and migrant populations.
- Apply the Refugee and Migrant Health System and Essential Public Health Functions Review Tool in selected countries
- Develop country-specific roadmaps and tools to implement recommendations
- Contribute to contextualizing public health management inputs for addressing mass displacement among refugee and migrant populations
- Develop capacity-building tools to strengthen competencies of health sector leadership and healthcare workers
- Contribute to developing programmatic products to close immunization gaps among refugee and migrant populations
- Contribute to developing grant and partnership proposals supporting the Global Action Plan
Requirements
- A medical degree and an advanced university degree in public health
- Over 10 years of experience in the public health aspects of refugee and migrant health
- 5 years of experience applying health systems thinking to improve outcomes for refugee, migrant, and displaced populations
- Prior work experience with WHO, other UN agencies, or relevant NGOs is considered a plus
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and lead research or work with solid analytical grounding
- Excellent drafting and communication skills
- Sound knowledge and expertise in health and migration
- Expert knowledge of English is essential, and another UN language is desirable
