The Policy Center for the New South (PCNS) is recruiting two Junior Policy Professionals to join the research team of the IDRC-funded project Climate Care Nexus. The selected professionals will contribute to research activities across four countries, with a focus on analyzing the interconnections between climate change, migration dynamics, and care systems. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in applied research and policy engagement within an international and interdisciplinary environment, lasting 2 years.

Overview

The Climate Care Nexus Project aims to analyze the interconnections between climate change, migration dynamics, and care systems in North and West Africa. The project will be conducted across four countries: Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Mauritania.

  • Research focus: climate–care–migration linkages and social protection systems
  • Methodology: literature reviews, development of research instruments, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative datasets
  • Expected outcomes: working papers, briefs, and data visualizations
  • Project duration: 2 years
  • Location: Rabat, Morocco
  • Language requirements: English, French, Arabic

Eligibility

The position is open to candidates with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Development Economics, Public Policy, or a closely related field.

  • Specialization or proven interest in labor economics, gender and social protection, or environmental and climate economics
  • Solid knowledge of econometric and statistical analysis (Stata, R, python)
  • Proven research and writing skills
