The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is seeking a Deputy Director – Strategy, Planning & Management and Measurement, Learning & Evaluation to lead the India Country Office's analytical and operational efforts. With at least 12 years of experience in leadership roles, the successful candidate will have a deep understanding of global health and development issues. The Deputy Director will lead a team of four functions and report to the Country Director, ICO.

Overview

The Deputy Director – Strategy, Planning & Management and Measurement, Learning & Evaluation is a senior leadership role at the Gates Foundation's India Country Office.

  • Lead strategy and portfolio reviews in coordination with the ICO Executive Team and cross-foundation forums
  • Develop and implement a portfolio management approach to foster stewardship and resource utilization
  • Partner with Finance on developing annual investment plans and forecasting
  • Lead initiatives to generate data-driven insights to inform portfolio planning and management
  • Develop and execute strategic support to program teams on grant development and management
  • Identify success metrics for strategy, portfolio, and individual grants

Eligibility

The ideal candidate will have an MBA and/or other advanced degree in Business, Public Policy, Statistics, Evaluation Science, Development Planning, or equivalent, with at least 12 years of experience in leadership roles.

  • Experience in global health and development organizations, multilateral institutions, private sector, universities/research institutions, or consulting
  • Proven ability to lead a team and influence stakeholders
  • Experience working on teams with diverse cultural and professional backgrounds
