Consultant - Agrobusiness & Food Security - Alinea International

Overview

The project, called Projet de Services d’Appui Terrain (PSAT), is implemented by Alinea International under a contract with Global Affairs Canada. The project aims to mobilize highly qualified technical specialists to support Canadian programming in Senegal and other countries under the Canadian Embassy in Dakar.

Role & Responsibilities

The consultant will be responsible for providing technical expertise on agrobusiness, food security, and financial inclusion, with a focus on innovative financing solutions.

• Analyzing strategic issues related to agricultural and food systems, including productivity, resilience, governance, and access to financial services
• Designing and implementing innovative financial solutions to support food security and rural entrepreneurship
• Providing technical support to the project team, including data analysis and policy dialogue

Requirements

• A degree in a relevant field, such as agriculture, economics, or business administration
• At least 5 years of experience in agrobusiness, food security, and financial inclusion
• Excellent knowledge of agricultural financing mechanisms, including microfinance, guarantee funds, and digital financial services
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work in a team environment
• Fluency in French, with knowledge of Wolof or other local languages an asset
