The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) works globally to promote children's rights and wellbeing. In partnership with the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC), UNICEF is seeking a Child Protection Consultant for a 12-month assignment in Lesotho. The purpose of this role is to support the implementation of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, specifically addressing gaps in reporting and implementation of child protection policies.
Overview
The Child Protection Consultant will work to develop practical tools to operationalize ACERWC's reporting checklist, including a Disaggregated Data Compilation Checklist and a Concluding Recommendations Implementation Matrix.
- Design and deliver a targeted technical workshop on quality periodic and complementary reporting, and implementation of ACERWC's recommendations
- Support the alignment of national legal and policy frameworks with international and regional human rights standards on violence against girls and harmful practices
- Collaborate with government institutions and regional bodies to strengthen their capacity to prevent and respond to violence against children
