Alinea International is seeking a Science Technology and Policy Fellow to work on a project for the conservation of vicuñas and high-Andean ecosystems in Bolivia. The position is based in Potosí, Bolivia, and the contract will last for 12 months. The ideal candidate will have experience in biodiversity conservation and be able to communicate in Spanish.
Overview
The project aims to strengthen the leadership of women, including indigenous women, in the conservation of high-Andean wetland ecosystems and peatlands, through the promotion of nature-based solutions for climate change adaptation and the strengthening of environmental governance.
- The fellow will work in collaboration with the IAI and ALINEA International to implement the project "Mujeres como guardianas de la biodiversidad y la resiliencia climática en paisajes de humedales y turberas"
Role & Responsibilities
The Science Technology and Policy Fellow will provide technical assistance to strengthen participatory biodiversity monitoring, with an emphasis on sustainable vicuña management.
- Support the design and implementation of methodologies for participatory monitoring of vicuñas
- Provide training and capacity building for rural women and other local actors
- Generate and systematize technical information for decision-making
- Strengthen the articulation between communities, institutions, and strategic actors
- Contribute to the development of tools, recommendations, and knowledge products oriented towards the conservation of high-Andean wetlands, environmental governance, and climate change adaptation
